Ball, LaMelo Illawara 6'8" 181 PG 8/22/01

Lonzo's little brother has great size for a Point Guard. At 6'8", he can see over defensive opponents. He played in Australia in 2019-20. He only played 12 games before suffering a bruised foot. He missed four weeks. He then decided to quit and return to the USA to prepare for the Draft. In 12 NBL games, Ball averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game. ...His ball handling ability is  exceptional. He has a low dribble and "slither-ability" to split double teams. He processes at a fast rate. He has an ability to throw one handed outlet passes that are on the money. His 2.66-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio speaks to his skills with the ball.  ...His shot selection can be highly questionable. He shot 27.9% from three-point range in Australia. Although he has a natural feel for the game, his basketball IQ can be frustrating to watch. He is almost overly confident. ...Before his junior season, a coaching dispute between his father and the coach resulted in LaMelo leaving Chino Hills to sign with a Lithuanian professional team. LaMelo strikes me as an Alpha Male. He has swagger. His superior ability comes with some caution. Is he "all-in" on being a great teammate committed to winning?

Our best advice: in 2018, the 2nd pick was Marvin Bagley. We advised, "draft Luka Doncic."

Our most sketchy advice: in 2006, the 2nd pick was LaMarcus Aldridge. We advised, "draft Tyrus Thomas."
