Emoni Bates is a scoring wing that is looking to score, score, and score some more. He can really "shake" with his crossover dribbles, and hesitation moves. Bates is known as a shooter with good size but at E. Michigan in 2022-23 he converted just 33% of his three-balls. He does have touch as evidenced by his 78% free throw shooting but his shot selection prevents him from shooting a higher percentage from deep. He averaged 19.2 points, and 5.8 rebounds as a sophomore. He had many more turnovers (76) than assists (42). He is a high usage player (led the MAC) but he hasn't proven he can be efficient. ...Bates measured at 6'8" at the NBA Combine with just a one inch bump for wingspan (6'9"). He was also among the slowest in the 3/4 court sprint. His max vert was just 32.5". We do think he will be drafted late in round two. Aside from some upside as a creative scorer we don't believe he sets himself apart from the landscape of NBA wings.

Our best advice: in 2016, the 4th pick was Dragan Bender, we advised, "Draft Kris Dunn."
