Bates is a crazy accurate shooter that averaged 13.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1 assist per game in 2024-25. He shot 39.7% 3-pt. FG, and 94.6% FT. Because of his wingspan, Bates has a chance to defend well but his DEFRTG was 2.9 points worse than the Missouri team DEFRTG. His slight build certainly plays into that. He jumped a 33.5" max. vert at the NBA Draft Combine. He is a lefty. Bates played two seasons at Indiana, and finished up his NCAA run with two seasons at Missouri. We do not expect Bates to be drafted. We think his accurate shooting is interesting, and see a world where he can be a sniper.

Our best advice: in 2016, Marcus Paige was drafted 55th. We advised, "draft Gary Payton II."
