Black averaged 12.8 points 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game as a touted freshman. He logged HEAVY minutes (led the SEC in mins. played). He has a nice feel for the game, and he is willing to share. Right handed. He was a plus defender and he showed flashes of brilliance on offense. However, Black made just 30.1% of his three-point attempts, and he was below average at the free throw line as well, at 70.5%. There is some talk of him being a "big point guard". We don't see that. His 1.29-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio is much more point-forward.  He measured a shade under 6'6" at the NBA Draft Combine. Wingspan is 6'7.5". He measured with a 39" max. vert. Black was a member of the USA Basketball U18 squad that won Gold at the FIBA Americas Championship. We believe Black will be selected among the first ten picks. While we did enjoy watching him play (especially in the Maui Invitational), we are too concerned with his shooting inaccuracy to select him that high.

Our best advice: in 2017, the 18th pick was TJ Leaf, we advised, "Draft John Collins."
