Davis, Johnny Wisconsin  6'6" 196 LPS soph.

Davis averaged 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 2021-22. He was the Big Ten Player of the Year. He doesn't mind contact, and he competes at both ends. His mid-range game is advanced and he can also score in the post. At this stage, he is a low percentage shooter from three-point range. He shot just 30.6% this season (32.5% career). He does shoot a solid 79% FT. Also somewhat concerning, Davis had more turnovers than assists this season. But at the NBA level we don't think that will be the case. Defensively, Davis was good for the Badgers. Like most young players, Davis can be even better. He needs to improve maintaining vision of the ball while defending an opponent that is moving without the ball. But he IS a good defender overall. He had the best DEFRTG on the team. He is especially adept as a wing that rebounds. He led the Big Ten in defensive boards. He has big hands. His wingspan is nothing special at 6'8.5". Davis impressed us with ability to use either hand at NBA speed. He will dunk in traffic with his left. He drives the ball with a purpose. ...We expect Davis to be selected in the lottery. We view him as a nice young, tough piece that has room to grow.

Our best advice: in 2018, the 8th pick was Collin Sexton. We advised, "draft Mikal Bridges."
