Hayes is a combo-guard with good size. He has some of the step-back ability off the dribble that good NBA players have. He effortlessly makes one-hand zip passes with his strong hand. Left handed. Although not more than an average (by NBA standards) runner and jumper, Hayes is a "plus defender". His team was 1.7 points per 100 possessions better defensively with him on the floor. Hayes averaged 12.8 points, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game in ten Euro Cup contests in 2019-20. He connected on 39% of his 3-pt attempts, and was 20-22 at the free throw line (92%).
