Hughes, Elijah  Syracuse 6'6" 215 SF jr.

Hughes is a right handed wing that can 'dance' his way into his own shot. He is a thirsty offensive player. He hits fadeaways, face-up jumpers, catch-n-shoot shots,  and just about any kind of shot you can think of. Hughes averaged 19 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in 2019-20. He shot 34.2% 3-pt FG, and 81.3% FT. ...Hughes was named First Team All-ACC.  ...He made strides in decision making this season, posting a 1.49-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.  ...Defensively. Syracuse was better with Hughes off the floor. ...Hughes started his career at East Carolina, playing there as a freshman. He sat out 2017-18, and played the last two seasons at The `Cuse. He clearly improved his accuracy as a shooter at Syracuse. ...We anticipate Hughes being taken early in the second round. We liked him each time we watched him play. He is just athletic and crafty enough to get his own shot. He is aggressive. He will take it to the basket with strength. ...Hughes will have to improve his shot selection and defensive focus but his overall game offers enough that we could envision him being in NBA rotations as a reserve.

Our best advice: in 2012, the 29th pick was Marquis Teague. We advised, "draft Draymond Green."
