Ivey, Jaden  Purdue 6'4" 200 SG soph.

Ivey is an explosive scoring guard that makes highlight reel plays on the regular. He is a blur with the ball in his hands and he loves to finish with ferocious dunks. He averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game as a sophomore. He was named First Team All Big Ten. He improved his three-point shooting, going from 25.8% as a freshman to 35.8% as a sophomore. Ivey made 74.4% of his foul shots this season. Right handed. He finished tenth in Big Ten boxscore plus/minus. Ivey still has areas that can improve. His 1.22-to-1 assist to turnover ratio will really have to take a significant leap for him to be a WINNING lead ball-handler in the NBA, but there is no reason he can't make that leap. His shot selection can improve. Given NBA spacing, we think he will take better shots as a pro. Defensively, Purdue was slightly better when Ivey was off the floor. ...Niele Ivey, Jaden's mother, is the Notre Dame  women's basketball team head coach. She is a former WNBA player for the Indiana Fever, Detroit Shock, and Phoenix Mercury. ...We believe Ivey will be a top five pick. If he hits his potential he could easily be the best player in this draft. If he falls short of such lofty expectations we still think he will be a good starting guard. His mix of speed and explosiveness is a combination rarely seen in a prospect. If I were a team outside the top five picks, I would try to maneuver to land Ivey somehow.

Our best advice: in 2014, the 5th pick was Dante Exum. We advised, "draft Marcus Smart."
