Lewis, Maxwell

Pepperdine

soph.

Lewis has great length for a wing (7'0" wingspan). Lewis averaged 17.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 2023. He shot 34.8% from deep and 78.7% FT. Right handed. Lewis does a good job putting pressure on opposing defenses. He gets to the free throw line often with his shifty maneuvers, handling the ball. He can create his own shot or score off of cuts but his best NBA trait was his catch-n-shoot ability. He had a measured 36.5" max. vert at the NBA Draft Combine. His 3/4-court sprint time was poor. Lewis is also very loose with the ball. He led the West Coast Conference in turnovers. He had more turnovers (102) than assists (87). His high usage seems unlikely in the NBA, given his limitations as a decision maker. We expect Lewis to be drafted late in round one. We view him as a potential backup in the NBA but Lewis will have to dramatically improve his passing skills and feel for team play on offense.

Our best advice: in 2009, the 45th pick was Nick Calathes, we advised, "Draft Danny Green."
