Melton, De'Anthony  USC 6'4" 190 PG soph.  Melton was caught up in the FBI investigation into college basketball. USC held him out all season in 2017-18. ...Melton has the potential to be an excellent defender in the NBA. He plays with aggression on D, and his length and athleticism allow him to be a pest. ...He is a guard with good vision that will take chances with the ball. He was excellent in the pick-n-roll as a passer. ...Melton scores on hard cuts, and in transition. His shooting ability was a deficiency but that is based on action from nearly a year and a half ago. ...In his 2016-17 season at USC, the Trojans were 3.9 points per 100 possessions better on defense with Melton in the game. He averaged 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game as a freshman. Melton shot just 28% from three-point range. He was a 70% free throw shooter. Melton's assist-to-turnover ratio was 1.95-to-1 in his lone season at USC. ...Even if Melton has improved his jump shot, it seems like a stretch to think he will suddenly be good enough to positively effect an NBA offense. ...On D, we like him. Perhaps he winds up as a top-tier backup in time.
