Mutts, Justyn

Mutts is a tough right handed forward that is a low percentage shooter from deep. He has a good feel for team offense. He averaged 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. He had a 1.63-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio in 2022-23. He shot 32.5% from three-point range and just 61.6% FT. Mutts had a DEFRTG that was 2.8 points better than the Va. Tech team DEFRTG. He is older than most draft prospects. Mutts started his NCAA career in 2017 at High Point. He sat out a season to transfer to Delaware, where he played in 2019-20. Mutts finished his college career with three seasons at Va. Tech. He finished eighth in ACC boxscore plus/minus this season. ...We do not foresee Mutts being drafted. We think his defensive prowess, and toughness could get him into the NBA as a reserve but his shooting would have to greatly improve for that happen.

Our best advice: in 2021, the 12th pick was Josh Primo. We advised, "draft Jalen Johnson."
