Nowell was among our favorite players to watch in college basketball. He is a small, right-handed PG with natural leadership ability. He has deep range on his jump shot and he is an accurate shooter. Nowell plays a joyful brand of basketball that elevates his teammates. He averaged 17.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game. His assist-to-turnover ratio is 2.25-to-1. Nowell led the Big 12 in points per game, assists, steals, free throw percentage, free throws attempted, free throws made, and boxscore plus/minus! He is smart enough to be a positive defender, as he was, albeit slightly, in 2022-23 at Kansas St. He was named First Team All Big 12, and First Team All-Defense in the Big 12. ...He played three seasons at Little Rock, and his last two at Kansas St. Nowell is not likely to be drafted. We think that will prove to be a mistake by NBA teams. Normally, small guards are not players we believe in as future NBA guys. However, Nowell is different. He is a special athlete (39" max. vert.), and accurate shooter. He showed and proved in the NCAA that despite his 6'0.5" wingspan he isn't a defensive liability. We see Nowell as a potential low-tier starter in the NBA. He is too skilled to be over-looked.
