Pons is a hyper-athletic, left-handed, pivot that blocks shots at a high rate. He averaged 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocked shots per game. He struggles to shoot it deep (only 27% 3-pt fg.). However, at the foul-line, Pons made a solid 78.9%. Pons had more turnovers than assists. ...While we see the shot-blocking ability, Pons' DEFRTG was equal to (not better than) the Tennessee DEFRTG. We do not expect Pons to be selected in the Draft. He showed some flashes of a better looking mid-range shot. With his athleticism, he still could become a better player.
Our best advice: in 2003, the 2nd pick was Darko Milicic. We advised, "draft Carmelo Anthony."
