Sharpe is a hyper-athletic, 19 year-old wing that can create his own shot. Sharpe has deep range on his jumper. He is a high-rising finisher that creates highlights on the regular. Right handed but uses his left well. He has long arms (reported 7'0" wingspan). Sharpe planned to do a red-shirt year at Kentucky, where he would practice with the team but not play in games. The way we understand it, he was eventually asked to play this season when the Wildcats ran into injury problems. However, Sharpe's "team" shut that notion down and kept him out (to allegedly not hurt his Draft stock). I would want to know the details if I'm a NBA team. And I would want assurance that Sharpe would play in Summer League. ...Sharpe is still just a kid. He can improve in many areas. He will certainly need to tighten up his ball-handling and he will have to adjust to playing against grown men. Defensively, he will be held accountable in the NBA (which he wasn't in the Nike EYBL). We doubt Sharpe slips past the sixth pick in this Draft. It might be risky to take a kid that did not play college basketball at all but in this instance we believe the potential reward is worth the risk. Kobe Bryant never played college ball. He went 13th in the 1996 Draft despite having the obvious superior athleticism that we see in Sharpe.
