Shead is a smart, tough customer that can command a team. His defensive work is exceptional and his teammates respect him as a leader. Shead averaged 12.9 points 3.7 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 6.3 assists in 2023-24. He was named the NABC National Defensive Player of the Year, and First Team All Big-12. His ball handling and low center of gravity allow him to get to spots opponents would prefer he not get to. He can "change gears" as well as any guard. He is a low percentage deep shooter (30.9% 3-pt. FG) but he does have touch (77.9% FT). Shead led the Big-12 in boxscore plus/minus and assist percentage. He posted a 3.1-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. By all accounts, Shead is a good human that would be a welcome addition to any locker room. Shead will likely be drafted in the middle of the second round. We view him as a potential top-tier reserve in the NBA.

Our best advice: in 2022, the 54th pick was Sandro Mamukelashvili. We advised, "draft Austin Reaves."
