Smith, Tyler

G-League Ignite

Smith is a 19 year-old forward that averaged 13.7 points, and 5.1 rebounds in the G-League. Smith shot 36% from beyond the arc (NBA length). His free throw percentage was 73.2%. He is a lob threat and he will finish in transition and on offensive rebound putbacks. Smith had slightly more assists than turnovers. He is left handed with "quick-jumping" ability. He had a DEFRTG 3.4 points better than his Ignite team's DEFRTG. He posted the seventh fastest lane agility time at the 2024 NBA Draft Combine which tells us he is quick enough to guard NBA SF's although his natural position is FOUR due to his lack of "put-it-on-the-floor and play-make" abilities. His straight-line speed is below average. He posted a 38" max. vert. He has a 7'1" wingspan. We anticipate Smith being drafted late in round one. We think because of his combination of defensive ability and three-point accuracy, he has a chance to be a top-tier starter at the peak of his career. NBA teams clamor for defensive size and shooting ability. Smith has both and he's just 19.  see video

Our best advice: in 2021, the 12th pick was Josh Primo. We advised, "draft Jalen Johnson."
