Swanigan, Caleb Purdue  6'9" 246 PF soph. The most productive power forward in college hoops was Caleb Swanigan. He averaged 18.5 points (52.7% FG, 78.1% FT), and 12.5 rebounds per game. He connected on 44% of his college three-balls this season. He has a standing reach of 9'0" (same as Marvin Williams, and Jordan Hill). ...Swanigan was a decorated high school player that came into college ball overweight as a freshman. Since then he has worked hard to change his body and the results on the court have been phenomenal. Swanigan comes from a tough upbringing. His father had addiction issues and Caleb spent time in homeless shelters as an escape from an abusive household. Swanigan's father (now deceased) weighed in the neighborhood of 500 lbs. Caleb, himself was near 400 lbs. in eighth grade! A breakthrough came at age 13 when Caleb was adopted by former NFL player Rosevelt Barnes. Barnes put Caleb through intense workouts, getting the prospect known as "Biggie" down to 260 lbs. as a high school Senior. ...Swanigan could be better as a decision maker. He had more turnovers than assists. He is also not much from a bounce standpoint. His 29.5" max. vert is the same measurement that Darius Songaila posted in 2002. Swanigan appears to be a likely early-second round selection. We like him better than that due to his ability to score and rebound. Despite his BIG size, Swanigan's DEFRTG was significantly better than the Purdue team DEFRTG.

Decent Advice: In 2013, the 14th pick in the NBA Draft was Shabazz Muhammad. We advised, "Draft Gorgui Dieng."
