Thornwell, Sindarius  South Carolina 6'5" 212 SG SR. Thornwell was the 2016-17 SEC Player of the Year. He is a BIG-TIME defender that plays a no-nonsense style of hoop. He averaged 21.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per game in 2016-17. He is one of the few SG's who had a DEFRTG better than his team's DEFRTG. ...His offensive outburst this season was a welcome surprise for South Carolina. Thornwell improved his shooting stroke and shot selection. As a result, Thornwell raised his percentages to 44% FG, 39% 3-pt., and 82% FT. This season was the first that Thornwell did not shoot under 40% FG. His assist-to-turnover ratio is 1.18-to-1 (career). He is not very athletic. His 30.5" max. vert. is historically poor. For perspective, Andy Rautins (remember him?) has the same max. vert.  ...Thornwell has a 6'10" wingspan (same as Jamal Crawford, and Patrick McCaw). ...Thornwell played high school ball at Oak Hill Academy. ...We expect Thornwell to be drafted early in the second round. While we love his tenacity on D, his offensive limitations lead us to think he is destined to be a lower-tier reserve SG in the NBA.

Good advice: In 2002, the 42nd pick in the NBA Draft was Jason Jennings. We advised, "Draft Darius Songaila."
