Tinkle, Tres

Oregon St.

Tinkle is a son-of-a-coach, forward, that checks a lot of boxes. The left-hander averaged 18.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 2019-20. He battled injuries, often playing through them, during his career at Oregon State, yet he was named First Team All Pac 12 in each of the last three seasons. He shot 34% from three-point range and 82% FT in 2019-20. Tinkle gets to the free throw line often. He is sixth on the all-time Pac 12 free throws attempted list.  He was a "plus defender", with Oregon State being 2.6 points per 100 possessions better defensively with him on the floor. His team defensive i.q. is very high. He gets steals at a high rate due to his outstanding reads. Tinkle's assist-to-turnover ratio was 1.4-to-1. He finished seventh in Pac 12 boxscore plus/minus. ...We do not believe Tinkle will be drafted. He just isn't dazzling at all with his running or jumping ability. We DO believe he has the skill to play in the NBA.

Good advice... In 2017, the 40th pick was Dwayne Bacon. We advised, "draft Thomas Bryant."
