Walker, Jarace

frosh.

Walker was among our favorite freshman in the 2022-23 college basketball season. He is amazingly nimble for his 6'8", 240 lb. size. He has a 7'2" wingspan. He plays with physicality as a rule but he has enough finesse in his game to avoid offensive fouls, even at top speed. He averaged 11.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots per game on the way to being named the AAC "Rookie of the Year". He shot 34.7% 3-pt. FG, and a very pedestrian 66.3% FT. Walker had more assists than turnovers. Right handed. As a freshman, he led the AAC in Defensive Rating. He is willing to take a charge, and if he does make a mistake on a gamble, he recovers with uncanny quickness. ...Walker was a McDonald's All-American in high school. We project Walker as a candidate to immediately start in the NBA if the fit is right. We LOVED watching him get after it. He may not be as skilled as some prospects but Walker is never going to short-cut the process to win. We believe he will be selected in the early-to-mid lottery.

Our best advice: in 2020, the 6th pick was Onyeka Okongwu. We advised, "draft Tyrese Haliburton."
