Watson is a right-handed forward that defends but also has an advanced feel for the game on offense. His 1.87-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio speaks to his impressive vision and decision making. Watson averaged 14.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 2023-24. He was named First Team All-WCC. He improved his three-point shooting with each season at Gonzaga, topping out at 41.2% this year (on 51 attempts). However, he was sketchy at the free-throw line, making just 65.3% FT. Watson finished second in WCC boxscore plus/minus. He has a 7'0" wingspan. Watson is right handed but uses his left hand well. He is willing to take a charge. He makes timely cuts. We do not expect Watson to be drafted but we absolutely think he can play in the NBA. His detractors will note that he will be 24 years-old when the NBA season starts. He is also a below average runner/jumper by NBA standards. However, the guy can play. His steady improvement as shooter combined with his feel for the team game (career leader in Offensive Rating in the WCC) suggest a player that can be an important glue guy that may be a starter in his career.
