Nate Ament is a 19 year old, right-handed small forward with NBA positional size and deep range on his jump shot. Ament averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. In our database, which includes more than just his freshman season, Ament shot 34.5% from three-point range and 79.1% from the free throw line. At 6'10" with a 6'11.5" wingspan and a 211-pound frame, Ament has the kind of size and jump-shooting combination that is always worth monitoring. He was fourth in the SEC in free throw attempts and second in free throws made, which we like. Getting to the line usually translates well. However, Ament did struggle in general to finish at the rim, and his 1.1-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio shows he still has work to do as a decision-maker. Ament posted a 37" max vertical at the 2026 NBA Draft Combine. Defensively, his DEFRTG was equal to the Tennessee team DEFRTG, which suggests he was not hurting the Volunteers on that end. It can be difficult to project how really young players will develop, but the shooting touch, free throw pressure, and positional size create real intrigue. If everything goes right, we think Ament has a chance to become a potential mid-tier starting small forward in the NBA. We are not sure he is ever the main man on a NBA team, but he could become a very useful complementary piece if the body, finishing, and decision-making continue to improve.

Our best advice: in 2011, Marcus Morris was drafted 14th. We advised, "draft Kawhi Leonard."
