Dion Brown is a right-handed shooting guard with energy, motor, and excellent timing as a cutter. Brown averaged 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists this season at Saint Louis. He played two seasons at UMBC, one at Boston College, and finished his NCAA career at Saint Louis.
Brown was one of the best cutters we saw this season. His timing is impeccable, and he is good in transition as well. He shot 61.6% from the field, the fifth-best single-season mark in Saint Louis history. Brown has the ability to finish in the paint as well or better than many forwards. At 6'3" and 180 pounds, Brown is small for a NBA shooting guard, and we do not have a listed wingspan for him. He shot 40.0% from three-point range this season, but the volume was limited to 60 attempts. He also made 75.4% from the free throw line. The passing profile is not a strength. Brown had more turnovers than assists in three of his four college seasons, including this year. His DDiff was virtually even at minus 0.1, and he was named to the A-10 All-Defensive Team. We like his energy. His motor goes hard. Brown will not be drafted, but the cutting, transition play, finishing, motor, and defensive recognition make him worth a closer look. We think he should be among any team’s first calls for Summer League.

Our best advice: in 2021, Ziaire Williams was drafted 10th. We advised, "draft Jalen Johnson."
