Javontae Campbell is a right-handed guard whose defense and activity jump off the page. Campbell averaged 18.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 3.0 steals per game at Bowling Green. He was named First Team All-MAC and MAC Defensive Player of the Year. At 6'2" with a 6'7.5" wingspan and 168 pounds, Campbell has decent length for a smaller guard, though he is light. Opponents cannot relax around him. Campbell led the NCAA in total steals with 97 and also led the nation in steals per game in 2025-26. He posted a plus 2.0 DDiff and led the MAC in box score plus/minus. Campbell also showed enough playmaking to remain interesting. His 1.83-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio was solid, and he averaged 5.1 assists per game. He does a good job drawing fouls, finishing second in the MAC in both free throws attempted and free throws made. The shooting is the swing skill. Campbell made 31.8% from three-point range and 76.1% from the free throw line. Those numbers do not scare opponents, but the defensive production, foul pressure, passing, and motor give him a chance. We do not expect Campbell to be drafted. Still, the steals, length, defensive impact, and competitiveness are real. We think Campbell can potentially become a mid-tier reserve shooting guard in the NBA.
