Jack Kayil is a right-handed German guard whose NBA appeal starts with defense and competitiveness. Kayil makes opponents feel him, plays good team defense, and posted a plus 1.2 DDiff. He was named Best Young Player in the FIBA Champions League while playing for ALBA Berlin in Germany’s top league as a 20-year-old, which is not common. At 6'4" with a 6'5.25" wingspan and 189 pounds, Kayil’s positional fit is worth sorting through. His game is more combo guard than point guard, but he is small to be a NBA shooting guard, even with his strong shoulders. He posted a 1.56-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio and does a good job drawing fouls. Kayil is presently a low-percentage shooter from deep, making 31.6% from three-point range for his career. We think that may be more a function of him taking some shots he should pass up than a lack of touch. He shot 78.0% from the free throw line this season, which keeps the shooting projection alive. He does not finish well at the rim right now. Kayil also has strong international experience. At the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, he helped lead Germany to the finals while averaging 6.6 assists per game, ranking second overall in the tournament. His combination of defensive toughness, team feel, foul-drawing, and international production makes him an interesting developmental guard. We think Kayil will be drafted early in round two.

Our best advice: in 2009, Nick Calathes was drafted 45th. We advised, "draft Danny Green."
