Boopie Miller is a right-handed point guard with real skill, shot-making, and command in pick-and-roll. Miller averaged 19.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game at SMU. He led the ACC in minutes per game at 35.3. At 5'11" with a 5'10.5" wingspan and 161 pounds, Miller has obvious physical limitations by NBA standards. The size profile is difficult, and his DDiff was minus 2.4. Still, Miller is extra shifty, plays the pick-and-roll well, and can run an offense. He jumped a 35" max vertical. Miller started his NCAA journey with two seasons at Central Michigan, played one season at Wake Forest, and finished with two seasons at SMU. He shot 41.4% from three-point range and 86.6% from the free throw line this season. His 2.48-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio was strong, and the shooting touch is real. Miller also showed a knack for performing well when it mattered most. On Jan. 14, he hit a running half-court shot as time expired to give SMU a 77-76 win over Virginia Tech. That kind of confidence fits with the rest of his offensive profile. We do not think Miller will be drafted. We understand the physical limitations of his size, but we also think Miller is really skilled. He can run an offense, knock down shots with accuracy, and create enough advantages with his handle and craft to deserve a serious look.
