Dillon Mitchell is a left-handed forward with NBA athletic ability, and defensive versatility. Mitchell averaged 8.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game at St. John’s. He was named to the Big East All-Defense Team and finished fourth in Big East box score plus/minus.
At 6'7" with a 6'10.5" wingspan and 202 pounds, Mitchell has the size and athletic tools to defend NBA wings. He jumped a 38.5" max vertical, posted a plus 0.9 DDiff, and can switch and guard multiple positions. He sees the floor well, looks to share, and posted a top-tier 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio at St. John’s. The shooting is the major issue. Mitchell shot just 19.3% from three-point range and 49.4% from the free throw line. He did not attempt a three-point shot in 2022-23. For all of the athletic gifts, he cannot shoot a lick right now, and that makes the NBA fit difficult. Mitchell shot 59.3% from the field for his career because most of his offense came from transition finishes, cuts, offensive rebounds, and plays around the basket. He is mostly a transition finisher and offensive rebounding athlete. He played two seasons at Texas, one at Cincinnati, and finished his NCAA run at St. John’s. Mitchell was the 2022 Jordan Brand Classic MVP and a McDonald’s All-American. He is said to be a hard worker, and given the athletic gifts, we can envision him eventually playing in the NBA if the work continues. We expect Mitchell to be selected in the middle of round two.

Our best advice: in 2020, Patrick Williams was drafted 4th. We advised, "draft Tyrese Haliburton."
