Trey Kaufman-Renn is a right-handed forward who earned All-Tournament honors at the Portsmouth Invitational after a productive college career at Purdue. “TKR,” as he is called, averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while doing most of his offensive work near the basket. At 6'8" with a 6'10.5" wingspan and a 241-pound frame, Kaufman-Renn was able to function as a power forward in college. However, when compared to NBA playoff power forwards, his physical profile lands more in the small forward size pool. That becomes tricky because his offensive game is not presently built like a NBA small forward. Kaufman-Renn is a low-percentage shooter, making just 28.1% from three-point range for his career. He also shot only 62.7% from the free throw line. To be fair, he never took a high volume of threes, attempting just 64 in four college seasons. Kaufman-Renn did show marked improvement as a decision-maker and passer this season, posting a 1.8-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. That growth matters. Still, his game is mostly about two-point field goals near the basket, and that is difficult to translate cleanly to NBA success without plus size, or vertical pop. Defensively, he was a minus, with a DDiff of minus-1.1. Kaufman-Renn is productive, strong, and skilled enough to earn a serious look, but his NBA role projection is complicated by the combination of below-average shooting and tweener positional size.

Our best advice: in 2021, Jericho Sims was drafted 58th. We advised, "draft Austin Reaves."
