Lamar Wilkerson is a right-handed shooting guard who can score and shoot with accuracy. Wilkerson averaged 20.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game this season at Indiana. In Big Ten Conference play, he averaged 23.2 points per contest, the most Big Ten points per game by a Hoosier since George McGinnis in 1970-71. At 6'4" with a 6'7.5" wingspan and 204 pounds, Wilkerson has decent size for a shooting guard. He played one season of junior college ball, then spent three seasons at Sam Houston before finishing with one season at Indiana. He shot 39.2% from three-point range for his career and 88.8% from the free throw line this season. Wilkerson’s scoring and shooting combination is the appeal. He is shot-ready coming off screens, does a good job attacking closeouts, and has solid vision. His 1.5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio was positive, though he is clearly wired more as a scorer than a table-setter. The defensive projection is where we have questions. Wilkerson’s DDiff was minus 2.4, and we wish he was better defensively. ...Tested with below-average NBA speed. He jumped a 34" max vertical. Wilkerson will be 25 years old shortly after the start of the NBA season. We are not sure if he will be drafted or not. The shooting is real, and scoring 23.2 points per game in Big Ten play matters. At minimum, he should be among the first calls for a Summer League gig.

Our best advice: in 2021, Josh Primo was drafted 12th. We advised, "draft Jalen Johnson."
